MICROSOFT MOVES ON FROM THE KIN
Microsoft announced that it will be pulling the Kin 1 and Kin 2 from shelves and focusing its efforts on the Windows Phone 7 initiative slated for a late 2010 release. This move comes amid dismal sales and the phone’s inability to find a key audience. Complaints range from its missing applications, such as a calendar, and the pricey data plans that cost the same amount as those of the Iphone and other more advanced smart phones. The Kin was supposed to signify a shift in the strategy for Microsoft’s mobile strategy and now it looks as though that strategy failed to resonate with consumers. This puts further pressure on Windows Phone 7 to perform as Microsoft once again strikes out in the mobile space with the Kin.
